How We Handle Your Information

Straight answers about how Big Wella handles your data. No legal maze, no surprises.

calendar_today Last updated: February 2026 gavel Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) assignment Australian Privacy Principles

Big Wella apps are built on a simple principle: your family’s data is yours. We designed around not needing it. This is a clean digital sandbox where privacy is the baseline, not a setting you have to turn on.

smartphone

1. Your device is the vault

Big Wella apps are built with local-only architecture. Any progress, creations, or interactions stay exactly where they belong: on your device. We do not operate a central server that receives your data, which means your family’s moments never leave your home.

We may use your device’s local storage (such as app cache or local preferences) solely to make the app work correctly across sessions. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

2. We value the play, not the profile

Most apps are designed to learn about your child. We designed Big Wella so your child can learn about the world. We do not collect:

  • check_circleNames, ages, or locations
  • check_circleHow long you play or what you tap
  • check_circleDevice identifiers or advertising IDs
  • check_circlePhotos, audio, or any media from your device

We are interested in your child’s “Aha!” moments, not their data points.

3. No ads. No interruptions. No exceptions.

We do not sell advertising space. There are no third-party advertising networks running in the background and no trackers following your family across the web. You purchase the app once. The only thing your child sees is the world we built for them.

We will never sell, rent, trade, or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. This is not a legal formality — it is a commitment we have built the business around.

4. Third-party services

Big Wella apps currently use no third-party analytics, advertising, or data services. If a future update introduces any third-party service that has access to usage data — even anonymised usage data — we will update this policy before that update is released and notify existing users clearly.

Some app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) collect their own data as part of the download and purchase process. This data is governed by their respective privacy policies, which are separate from ours.

mail

5. Future communications

We don’t currently have an email newsletter or subscriber list. If we introduce one in the future, we will update this policy to name the service provider, describe exactly what data is held, and make signing up genuinely optional with a one-click unsubscribe. We will never add anyone to a mailing list without their explicit consent.

6. Your rights under Australian law

Big Wella Apps is operated by Sandra Robinson (ABN 77 683 247 003), a sole trader governed by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Because we do not collect personal information, there is currently no personal data held about you for us to provide, correct, or delete. If that changes, we will ensure you have full access, correction, and deletion rights in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information or have a privacy concern, you have the right to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make any meaningful change to this policy — particularly anything that increases the data we collect — we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and notify users through the app or App Store release notes before the change takes effect. We will never quietly expand our data practices.

This policy applies to: school Schools person Teachers backpack Students (Years 7–12)

Big Wella curriculum materials are content-only resources — no login, no student accounts, no platform watching what anyone does. We don't hold personal information about any student. This page explains exactly what that means, and what happens if things change down the track.

The short version

  • check_circleBig Wella curriculum sites don't collect names, student IDs, or any contact details.
  • check_circleNo student accounts. No logins. No tracking.
  • check_circleStudent work stays in your school's systems. We never see it.
  • check_circleWe don't sell student data. Not now, not ever.
  • check_circleIf anything changes, you'll hear about it before it happens.

1. Who we are

Big Wella is operated by Sandra Robinson (ABN 77 683 247 003), a sole trader based in Queensland, Australia. I build curriculum resources for Australian schools — web-based, content-first, and designed from the ground up around the idea that schools shouldn't have to hand over student data just to access good teaching material.

Any questions about this policy? Just ask. info@bigwellaapps.com

2. What we collect — and what we don't

Big Wella curriculum sites are content resources, not platforms. No account creation, no submission portal, no hidden analytics layer. Here's the full list of what we don't collect:

  • cancelStudent names, email addresses, or contact details
  • cancelStudent IDs or enrolment numbers
  • cancelQuiz answers, reflection responses, or any submitted work
  • cancelTime-on-page, click patterns, or browsing behaviour
  • cancelDevice identifiers or IP addresses linked to individuals

All student work — responses, reflections, assessments — is done through your school's own tools. That work goes to you, not to us.

school

3. The school's role

When a school uses Big Wella curriculum materials, the school stays in control of its students' data — because we're a content provider, not a data processor. In practice that means:

  • check_circleStudent grouping, progress tracking, and results all live in your school's own systems
  • check_circleParent and guardian consent sits with the school, as it always has
  • check_circleHow student work is stored, marked, and kept is your call entirely

For Queensland schools: Because we don't receive or hold student personal information, the standard supplier data processing requirements don't apply here. If your procurement team has specific questions, reach out and I'll walk you through it directly.

4. Third-party services

Big Wella curriculum sites use two third-party services, neither of which receives any personal student information:

  • check_circleGoogle Fonts — loads the typeface. Google may log the font request at their end. No student data involved.
  • check_circleExternal links — the materials link out to third-party sources. Once a student follows one of those links, that site's privacy policy takes over — not ours.

No Google Analytics. No Facebook Pixel. No ad tech. No behavioural tracking of any kind.

block

5. What we'll never do with student data

These aren't fine-print disclaimers — they're the reason I built things this way. Whether we hold data now or in the future, these are non-negotiable:

  • cancelSell student data to anyone, for any reason
  • cancelUse it for advertising or commercial profiling
  • cancelPass it to data brokers
  • cancelUse it to train AI models without the school's explicit written consent
  • cancelKeep it around longer than the educational purpose requires
update

6. If things change

Big Wella curriculum is actively growing. Future versions may include teacher dashboards, progress tracking, or LMS integrations. If that happens, here's what I'll do before anything goes live:

  • check_circleUpdate this policy to say exactly what's collected, by whom, and why
  • check_circleContact schools currently using the materials before any change takes effect
  • check_circleMake a Data Processing Agreement available to any school that wants one
  • check_circleName every third-party provider clearly, with a link to their privacy policy

The rule: I'll never expand what we collect without telling you first. No quiet updates, no fine print. You'll know before it happens.

security

7. Security

The site runs over HTTPS. But honestly, the best security story is that there's no database of student information to breach in the first place. That's not an accident — it's the whole point.

balance

8. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you have the right to access and correct personal information held about you. Right now, we don't hold any — so there's nothing to action. If that changes, those rights apply in full.

Think we've collected something we shouldn't have? Contact me directly and I'll sort it out. You can also take a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

assignment

9. Changes to this policy

If anything meaningful changes, the date at the top of this page gets updated and schools using our materials get a direct heads-up. That's the whole process. No sneaky rewrites.

Big Wella curriculum teaches students to think critically about how technology uses their data. It would be pretty hard to do that with a straight face while quietly harvesting it ourselves.
